Prepare yourself for a proper Afrikaans place when you visit this little gem not far from Cape Town. It is absolutely beautiful and hard to put in a certain category. It’s a play park for the kids, with animals to feed, jumping castles to explore and ponies to ride. It is also a great place to have some rustic meals, listen to Afrikaans music and enjoy the company of true locals. It has a market style atmosphere with little shops inside the barn and even more play areas and toys for the kids.
While there is a playground outside and three inflatable jumping castles, the inside play area is filled with books, drawing paper and small tables for the kids. While the adults can sit down under the huge tent and order a dish, the kids can explore the various farm animals. They will meet cows, goats, chickens, lazy pigs and a white pony. A feeding bucket and/or milk bottle can be bought for R12 each and it’s even more fun to feed the hungry crowd.
At certain times, the kids can even go on a little horseback ride for R30.
The menu is written in Afrikaans. So we had a bit of a difficult time figuring out what we can actually eat. But the friendly waiters helped us out immediately and explained to us the different dishes. So we found a little something for all of us and were very impressed with the quality of the food! It tasted absolutely amazing and we will come back for a second serve.
Inside the barn, you will also find a little shop with affordable toys for the little ones as well as some artisan jewellery and handmade goodies. It’s a very cute place to take home some small gifts and goodies.
Kiddies Birthday Parties
They do have a flyer where you can find out more about birthday party bookings. Unfortunately, I cannot give you more information on that as I’m not able to read Afrikaans. The flyer can be found on the website and in the pictures in our gallery. From what I see they offer 3 different party package options starting from R200 per child.
Our Experience
We had a surprisingly good time and the kids were running around, feeding the animals, riding the little scooters and spending their pocket money on a small toy at the shop. The food was really delicious and way more affordable than in any restaurant in town and it was a great day out with the family. We can highly recommend it!
