Every first Sunday of the month (except January), a special kind of Sunday unfolds about 40 km north of Cape Town at Camphill Village West Coast — a relaxed, family-friendly market set in peaceful farm surroundings.
A Warm Community Atmosphere
The Camphill Village Market brings people together from across the region for a fun, wholesome day out in the country. With shady trees, open lawns and the friendly vibe of a working farm, it’s the perfect escape from city hustle.
As you explore the market you’ll find a variety of fresh, organic and artisan goods on offer. The village’s own enterprises — including the bakery, dairy and herbal workshop — proudly display their produce: organic vegetables, fragrant herbs, breads, biscuits, rusks, yoghurts and cheeses. Many visitors head straight for the Camphill café, where freshly baked cakes, bacon and egg rolls, quiches, wraps and salads are served up with a smile.
Visiting stallholders add even more variety, with handmade jewellery, beautiful crafts, plants, crystals and delicious cooked foods joining the mix. For treasure hunters, Pandora’s Box, Camphill’s vintage shop, offers second-hand books, collectibles and unique finds.
Fun for All Ages
Musicians provide a live soundtrack as you wander, and there’s plenty to keep kids entertained too — from jungle gyms and pony or tractor rides to opportunities to see farm animals up close. In summer months, visitors can even take a refreshing dip in the village swimming pool (unsupervised, so children must be accompanied by adults).
Residents of Camphill Village also take part by running their own stalls, sharing their artwork, crafts and handmade goods. It’s a market experience with heart, supporting both the village community and a wide network of local artisans.

The market runs 10 am to mid-afternoon on the first Sunday of each month (excluding January). It’s held at Camphill Village on Klein Dassenberg Road in the Dassenberg area of the Western Cape — a short scenic drive from Cape Town.
