This massive kids area at the Weltevreden Estate deserves a completely stand-alone entry as it is absolutely spectacular for children. The Carnival area kind of has its own entry and offers a variety of activities for kids of all ages.
At the Carnival you truly find everything a child can dream of. They have TWO mammoth jungle gyms, slides, trampolines, a sand pit, a bike track with scooters and bikes to play with, a carousel, lots of space to run around, wooden toys, a jumping castle… You have to see it for yourself. This is by far the best play area at a wine farm that I can personally think of.
And it doesn’t stop there. The Carnival is also equipped with a bar where you get delicious milkshakes, cotton candy, sweet treats, kiddies picnics, a build-a-pizza area where they can make their own pizza and of course, they also serve delicious meals to the parents. This is literally kids’ heaven and they will cry if they have to leave that place again.

Prepare yourself for a lot of sugary things and immense joy in your children’s eyes. It is designed for kids of all ages, but I would say that kids up until the age of 8 years will enjoy it the most.
Kiddies Birthday Parties
If you’re about to plan a kiddies birthday party in summer, then you’re lucky. As the Carnival is an outside venue, it is weather-dependant but you shouldn’t have to worry about that in the hot summer months. The children will absolutely love it and you have much room to become creative in terms of the decor and supplies. They host parties for children between 1 and 8 years old at a cost of R185 per child.
The Carnival offers 3 different time slots to host your party:
- 09:30 – 11:30
- 12:00 – 14:00
- 14:30 – 16:30
The party fee per child (R185) includes a cool drink (juice or slushy), a meal (Chicken Nuggets & Chips / Build your own Pizza), desert in form of a waffle on a stick which will be decorated by the kids, and a party box filled with Fizzer, Chocolate, Chips and a Lolly Pop.
Other than that you can go wild and bring in additional decoration, balloons, table cloth, serviettes, etc at no extra cost. They do charge a R150 cake charge per cake or 24 cupcakes, though and they do not supply any cake stands.
They have contacts for professional bakers, photographers, face painters, magicians at hand. So if you are looking for additional activities for the children, give them a shout and they will be able to refer you to some of their trusted suppliers to make your party a success.
