The Toyota Stellenbosch Woordfees is a family affair, and there is an entire Children’s Festival dedicated to entertaining the young lot from 11 – 19 October 2025. Whether you refer to your grandparents as nan and pa or ouma and oupa, the Children’s Festival is accessible across age and language groups. Captain Kwanda’s Fanplastic Adventures
Join Kwanda and Fin on a quest to help sea creatures affected by plastic pollution. With raps, songs and dances, the show highlights climate change and ocean conservation. Performed in English with a splash of Afrikaans, isiXhosa and Nama, this 45-minute adventure ends with Kwanda earning a new name – Captain Fanplastic – and discovering a treasure of a different kind.

Little Maestros: Classical concerts for families

Theatre Discussions: Two Operas: ‘The Magic Flute’ and ‘The Barber of Seville’ (Multilingual)

In these free discussions on the Woordfees’ Discourse programme, Woordfees director and playwright Saartjie Botha talks with Magdalene Minnaar, artistic director of Cape Town Opera, along with some of the artists and key figures involved in the two productions. They will discuss the challenges and joys of this unique genre.
