Clock Tower Playground / Waterfront

When you cross the little harbour bridge to go towards the Clock Tower, you’ll be surprised by a neat playground for the kids right in front of the Robben Island Ticket Center. Since the big playground in front of the V&A Shopping Mall is currently under construction, this is a perfect alternative for younger children.

You have beautiful views of Signal Hill, the harbour and the Clock Tower, of course. The playground features a smaller jungle gym for the little ones with shorter slides and monkey bars in a safe height. The bigger jungle gym right next to it, is built higher and features slides, a climbing wall, monkey bars and a little bridge.

When the kids are lucky, they can even observe when the actual bridge is being opened for boats passing through. This is a real highlight and fun to watch!

The parents can sit down at the stairs or grab a coffee in one of the surrounding cafes and restaurants. There are also public toilets not far away in the Clock Tower Shopping Center.

Our Experience

We usually hang out more on the other side of the Waterfront where you’ll find the food market and V&A Shopping Mall. There is another large playground right in front of the shopping mall entrance which is currently under construction. So we keep going to that one and the kids enjoy it just as much. The ground is soft with the fake green grass and they love to play barefoot. We normally sit down on the stairs right in front of the Robben Island Ticket Center and watch them play.
