Benefits of a Speech & Drama Class

Drama classes offer far more than learning lines and standing on a stage. They help children grow in confidence, communication, and creative thinking — skills that benefit them both inside and outside the classroom.

Through drama, children build self-confidence and leadership skills as they learn to express themselves in a supportive and encouraging environment. Speaking in front of others becomes less intimidating, helping shy children find their voice and more confident children learn empathy and teamwork.

Drama also plays an important role in developing speech, language, and communication skills. Children practise clear articulation, voice projection, and expressive language, which often carries over into better classroom participation and everyday conversations.

By taking part in role play and group activities, children strengthen their public speaking and presentation skills. They learn how to structure ideas, communicate emotions, and speak with clarity — valuable skills for school, friendships, and later life.

Creative drama activities encourage problem-solving and analytical thinking. Whether improvising a scene or responding to unexpected changes, children learn to think on their feet and adapt with confidence.

Finally, drama classes nurture creativity through improvisation, storytelling, voice modulation, and performance techniques. These skills help children explore their imagination while developing focus, emotional awareness, and collaboration.

Drama Studio Days and Prices Vredehoek:

• Wednesdays from 2:30pm – 3:15pm Grade R to Grade 2 / (Kids 6-8 years)
• Wednesdays from 3:15pm – 4:15pm (Grade 3 to Grade 7 / (Kids 9-13 years)

Vredehoek Venue: 23 Derry Street, Elsa Yoga Studio, Vredehoek (Cape Town City Bowl)

Drama Studio Days and Prices Sunningdale & Newlands:

• Saturdays: 10am – 10:30am (4-5 years)
• 10:30am – 11:15am (6-9 years)
• 11:15pm – 12pm (10-14 years)

Newlands Venue: St Andrews Church, 77 Kildare Road.
Sunningdale Venue: Sunningdale Primary, Sunningdale Dr & Tryall Road.

Fees are R1,300 per term (not per month).
