When we decided as a family to move homes, I couldn’t have been more excited for this new chapter. But when I thought about packing up the endless toys and coordinating moving day with two young children, all optimism seemed to disappear.

So I knew going into it, I wanted to choose the path of least resistance. And suddenly, instead of an empty new house, it started looking like our home. And it only took 6 hours to fully pack the old home, load everything onto the truck and put it back into the new house.

Moving is a huge transition for adults. For kids, it’s even bigger. Being able to focus on them instead of worrying about every box and piece of furniture made the day feel less like something we had to survive and much more like the beginning of something new.

And now that we’ve used Wise Move ourselves, I know exactly where to go if we need anything moved ever again. They also arrange furniture removals, Gumtree pickups and transport for cars, pets, motorcycles, boats and even pianos – across South Africa. So if our next brilliant idea involves buying a vintage piece on Gumtree from Durban, at least that part is sorted.

For now, we’re getting to know our new neighbourhood, letting our family settle into a new routine, watching the kids run around the new garden, realising we should have labelled our boxes better, and loving life as our new house slowly turns into home.
