Kanu Wines is an Estate with a history that dates back to 1692 when it was founded as part of the famous Nooitgedacht farm in Stellenbosch. Only in 1997 it was renamed to Kanu Wines and it is located in the Polkadraai Hills originally known as Goedgeloof (meaning “good faith”).
On the farm, you can indulge in a typical wine tasting experience and/or sit down at Du Vin Restaurant.
Since the farm is under Chinese ownership since 2017, you can expect an Asian Fusion cuisine at the restaurant. While you also find your local Kudu Carpaccio, Burgers and Venison on the menu, the Asian dishes are predominant. If you love Springrolls, Asian style salads, Bao Buns, Korean Fried Chicken and this kind of food, you will absolutely love Du Vin Restaurant. Now here comes the deal: while you can enjoy your meal under old trees on the outside terrace, the kids have plenty of space to play and be entertained. They have a great jungle gym right next to the seating area and a superb putt-putt course attached to the restaurant. So after you are done with your feast, you can become a little competitive with the children and play a round of mini golf afterwards. It’s R30 per player and absolutely worth it!
They also have a little (safe) pond and beautiful green lawns where the children can run around and play some lawn games.
The Du Vin Restaurant is open Wed – Sat 12:00 – 20:00 and Sunday from 09:00 – 17:00.

Info: there are quite a few farm dogs roaming around. So beware of those if you are a little scared of dogs and unfortunately, your own furry friend needs to stay at home as other dogs are not allowed at the Estate.
Our Experience
We went there because of the fabulous Google Reviews. Almost everybody was super excited about the food, the atmosphere and friendliness of the waiters. Unfortunately, we seem to have visited them on a really bad day because so many things went wrong that we actually had to complain to the manager (and we really never ever complain about anything). We waited for over an hour for the food to arrive, then it was cold, it wasn’t 100% fresh, the wine was off… It was terrible and we really felt sorry for the waiter who had to deal with all our complaints. We do not judge a place by the first visit, so we will definitely go back a second time and hopefully have a better experience this time.
The place is really great and the kids loved playing there and we all enjoyed a game of put put afterwards. So we really hope this was a once-off bad day at Du Vin Restaurant.
