The Duck Boat / Waterfront

Get ready for an adventure like no other at the V&A Waterfront! Be the first to dive into the land AND sea experience on the amazing Duck Boat, South Africa’s very first amphibious attraction. This is one ride you won’t want to miss! These so called Duck Tours start at the ticket office in front of the famous Silo Hotel and depart daily between 07:00 – 19:00 (season and weather dependant). For daily updates, you can visit their “Buy your tickets here” page of the Waterfront Duck Company for tour departure times.

During the first part of the Duck tour, the Duck Boat will cruise you around iconic landmarks at the Waterfront, the Atlantic Seaboard, and the city, sharing fascinating stories and hidden tales about Cape Town’s rich history. But the real thrill begins when this brand-new vehicle splashes into the water! Glide down the slipway, passing luxury yachts, impressive boats, and the enchanting aquarium. Then you’ll slip under the Bascule and Swing Bridges and explore the Alfred and Victoria basins. Get those cameras ready for some epic pics and breathtaking views!

Plus, you’ll get to see some sun-bathing seals and the most spectacular views of Table Mountain. It’s a fun ride and a super exciting addition to the V&A Waterfront.

Grab your tickets at the Silo precinct or book online now. Let the adventure begin!

Our Experience

This is such a fun new addition to the Waterfront and we absolutely loved it! Unlike the other boat trips, it starts at the Silo District and you get a tour on land first. The ConDUCKtors (as they call the super friendly staff on the Duck Boat) will give you some interesting facts and tales about the history of Cape Town as well as the amazing ecology of the area. After that, the really exciting part is about to happen when the bus turns into a boat and hits the water! The Waterfront Duck ships you along some really impressive yachts, expensive buildings and boats and you get to see the Aquarium, Silo Hotel and Waterfront from a very different angle. We also came across some sunbathing seals and really caught the most amazing views of Table Mountain. It’s a fun and entertaining trip for the entire family and we will definitely hop on the Duck Boat again. It’s also a fantastic new experience for when you have visitors as the amphibious vehicle is one of a kind in South Africa and a truly unique attraction.
