Dunes Beach Restaurant / Hout Bay

A perfect spot for a relaxed sun downer.

This is the place to go after work to enjoy a glass of wine by the sea and watch the sunset over Hout Bay. Walk barefoot in the sand and make sure to bring along sand toys for the little ones because they can enjoy a very sandy playground. The old fisher boat creates the center piece on the outside sitting area and is always great to sparkle the creativity of the little ones. You’ll also find a huge jungle gym with swings, a slide and climbing spots. So the kids surely won’t get bored with the beach right in front of them.

The pizza and sea food is quite good and you’ll also find a kiddies menu. So family fun for everyone. Here you can check out the complete menu on their website.

Our Experience

As I said before, we go to Dunes mostly for an after-work dinner with our kids where they can still play along nicely in the sand and we enjoy a glass of wine as our sundowner drink. While our daughter is busy on the swing or in the boat, our son makes most of the stone wall and works on his jumping skills into the super soft sand. It does get quite chilly there once the sun is gone and you should always bring along some warmer clothes for the evenings. And usually the kids have to have a bath afterwards because they always bring home some sand as a souvenir.
