Susan Kilrain is more than an astronaut. She is a pioneer, a role model, and an icon of space exploration. She is the youngest person, and one of only three women, ever to pilot the Space Shuttle. With over 3,000 flight hours in more than 30 different aircraft and two shuttle missions, she has spent more than 20 days in space.

Beyond her extraordinary career in space and the Navy, Commander Kilrain is a sought-after motivational speaker, author, and a passionate advocate for inspiring young people to dream big especially in STEM fields. In her children’s book An Unlikely Astronaut, she shares her own story of overcoming obstacles to achieve her dream of becoming a NASA astronaut, encouraging children to aim high, no matter the challenges.
