Profile
On 5 September, the world of miniatures comes to life at the annual Miniature Fair — a kid-friendly event where everyone is welcome, whether you’re a die-hard enthusiast, a seasoned collector, or simply curious about the tiny, magical world of miniatures.
Tickets are sold at the door only: Adults R40, Children R20. A portion of every ticket sold goes to support the Volunteer Wildfire Services, who’ll be on site for the day — come say hello, chat to them, and learn more about the vital work they do.
Parking is free, and light refreshments will be on sale, so come hungry and stay a while.
What’s on:
- Miniature displays — dioramas, roomboxes, booknooks, dollshouse furniture, steampunk creations and more. This year’s Guild members’ challenge is the Lantern Challenge, and visitors get to vote for their favourite — plus stand a chance to win a prize.
- For the kids — treasure hunts with prizes up for grabs, a miniature penny arcade haunted house experience, and pot painting (parents, you’re welcome to join in too!). Look out for Fay’s Miniature World and any vendor marked with a K in the Showguide for kid-friendly finds.
- Sales tables galore — handcrafted miniature books, silverware, fine art, steampunk pieces, wheel-turned glazed pottery, teddies, Fimo foods, knitwear and so much more. If you’re hunting for accessories and supplies to make your own miniatures, you’ll find what you need here too.
- Live demos — watch bookbinding and other miniature-making skills up close.
- Raffle — grab a ticket for your chance to win a roombox, ready and waiting for you to fill with miniature treasures.
- Meet the makers — chat with the artisans, find out more about the Guild, and how to join. No prior skill or knowledge needed!
There really is something for everyone — come explore the wonderfully tiny world of miniatures with us on 5 September!
