When visiting a new country, you probably think you can do without the “stuff from home”. True, but we can tell you if you are staying away from home a little bit longer, you will start craving a few things that simply cannot be replaced by anything else. So we are very happy that a few German Grocer Stores around Cape Town are importing the good stuff from Europe so that we don’t have to miss out on some great and familiar things from back home.
Some of them stock over 1000 items from overseas including Maggi, Dr. Oetker, Haribo, Milka, Thomy, Funny Frisch and many many more. Of course, you can also get some of the products in regular super markets, but they are usually more expensive and you don’t get the same variety and choice. They also have 4-ply toilet paper, the “real” Mayo and a huge selection of Haribo. People staying here for a couple of years will understand the amount of joy and happiness in my writings about that fact.
