If you’re looking for a great family day out in the Swartland, Kloovenburg Wine & Olive Estate should be high on your list. It’s got everything you need for a relaxed outing — excellent wine, tasty food, and a gorgeous setting that’s perfect for families or lazy weekends with friends. Their nature playground is absolutely stunning and you find even more family-friendly activities on the estate.
Wine & Olive Tasting
Start your visit with a wine tasting in their beautifully renovated old cellar. You’ll get to try a variety of their estate wines (there are nine on offer), all carefully selected by winemaker Pieter du Toit. If you’re into olives, you’re in luck — Kloovenburg is also known for its award-winning olive oils, tapenades, and delicious olives. Their wine and olive pairings start from R80 per person.
And yes, they’ve got platters too! Think local cheeses, cured meats, crackers, and a good dose of olive goodness. It’s basically the perfect pairing for your wine.

Kringe Inni Bos – Pizza in the Forest
Right next to the tasting room, you’ll find Kringe Inni Bos, a super chilled open-air eatery tucked under the trees. It’s self-service and all about wood-fired pizzas — and they’re really good. Open on Fridays, weekends, and public holidays (plus every day during school holidays), this spot is a hit with both kids and grown-ups. You can take a look at their full menu here: MENU
While you sip your wine or coffee, the kids can go wild in the big playground or test out the awesome pump track (suitable for ages 2 to 13). It’s the kind of place where everyone actually gets to relax. The play area is very well equipped and the little ones will find trampolines, a water play area, sandpit, swings, a slide, and many more nature play features to keep themselves busy.
The estate also offers tractor rides for R20 per person per ride. Children under the age of 6 need to be accompanied by an adult.

Walk It Off or Stay the Night
If you’ve had your fill and feel like moving a little, there are hiking trails winding through the mountains and fynbos-covered hills around the farm. And if one day isn’t enough? Kloovenburg also has a beautiful guesthouse where you can spend the night and soak up those Riebeek Kasteel views a little longer.
You can check out their accommodation options here: ACCOMMODATION
You can choose from a Deluxe Room, Twin Room, Double Room and Luxury Room. All beautifully equipped and including a complimentary bottle of wine. No pets allowed, unfortunately.
