Llundudno Beach / Llundudno

This secluded and very private beach is nestled between Bakoven and Hout Bay and you have to take a turn towards the small (but very expensive) residential area of Llundudno. At the end of a long, winding road, you’ll arrive at a limited parking area with direct access to the beach.

In summer, it can be a nightmare to find a parking spot and if you’re a latecomer you might have to park somewhere at the top and walk all the way down to the beach. So rather pack lightly because the streets are quite steep.

You won’t find any shops or restaurants (nor street lights) in Llundudno, so make sure to bring along everything you need. But in summer, you will have the occasional local vendors roaming around the beach strip selling their usual cool drinks and ice cream.

On your way down to the white, sandy beach you will come across some public toilets. After that, you successfully arrived at your destination.

Llundudno Beach is a great sunbathing spot, families enjoy their picnics, the kids play in the sand or beach games and surfers love to ride the waves at Llundudno. The beach is also dog friendly and you can go for long walks with your furry friend off the leash.

Sometimes, when the tide is coming in, it creates little paddle pools along the beach where the children can have a lot of fun and play endless splash games or even ride their body boards.

Important: Llundudno is not a nude beach. But Sandy Bay is not far away from Llundudno Beach and well hidden from spectators. It cannot be seen from the highway to Hout Bay, but if you keep following the signs to Llundudno, you will also come across the directions to Sandy Bay in case you want to get a seamless tan!

Our Experience

Llundudno is a very special beach for us as it seems to be in the middle of nowhere with less tourists roaming around and taking away precious beach space. This one is pretty much reserved for the local residents and a real gem. The views are amazing, the beach is clean and you’ll get some relaxed vibes from everybody.

The kids love to climb onto the large granite boulders or discover some hidden caves.
