Farm-To-Table Dining Experience At Melfort / Stellenbosch

Melfort opened its doors in September 2024 and you’ll find this idyllic organic restaurant located at the Marianne Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.

The concept is as simple as genius: The restaurant sources all its ingredients such as organic fruits and vegetables, pasture-raised meats and eggs, dairy products, and stoneground flours from surrounding local farmers that share their commitment to quality and sustainability. Hence, you can always expect the freshest and organic dishes that change on a weekly basis depending on the availability (and season) of some of the ingredients.

Guests can choose from an à la carte selection during weekday lunches. Dinners from Wednesday to Saturday, as well as Sunday lunches, feature a thoughtfully curated set menu. So it gives you a feel of a fine dining restaurant, but always keeping children and families in mind.

A Setting That Complements the Cuisine

Melfort Restaurant is housed in a historic farmhouse dating back to the 1600s. It has been beautifully restored keeping its high ceilings, but adding contemporary art, and antique brass and copper accents to give it a modern and sophisticated touch. The surrounding landscape features grapevines, a serene pond, and free-roaming chickens, runner ducks, and peacocks. The farm animals add to the tranquil atmosphere, offering guests a picturesque escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Children can around around the lawn, explore the pond, admire the animals, cuddle the farm puppy or play at the amazing jungle gym which features swings, a slide, monkey bars and more. If they are not keen to join in on the set menu, the restaurant also offers a few kiddies options including pizza and chicken strips with hand-cut fries.

We believe Melfort is a fantastic new addition to the Cape Winelands adding a unique dining option and an extraordinary setting.
