Our Take
The Atlantic Express in Sea Point offers a very unique dining experience in the heart of the city. The old train wagon was carefully restored to a high end dining carriage with beautiful benches and an extraordinary setting. The restaurant itself is fully Halaal and offers an intimate space for its visitors.
The menu features yummy curries, burgers, pasta, salads, light meals, breakfast, sandwiches, desserts and much more! They also serve a separate kiddies menu with lots of delicious options for the little ones.
As space is limited, this is most suitable for children that don’t get bored sitting at a table the entire time as there is not much space to walk around. However, the interior and experience of eating in an actual train carriage are truly amazing and very exciting. So most kids will probably enjoy it a lot!
In case you are worried about the toilet facilities: there is no need to! The restaurant is equipped with two toilets in the back which are very clean and modern.

The kids were very excited to eat in a train in the middle of town. They were very curious and inspected the entire place during our visit. The interior is very comfortable and modern and so are the toilets in the back. As you cannot see much from the outside, I was worried that there are no bathrooms, but the train got everything and kitchen, dining area and bathrooms are all kept in that one train carriage. It’s actually pretty impressive and the food was beyond amazing. Everything we’ve ordered was so yummy that we definitely have to come back for more!
Of course, space is very limited to the children. So it’s a good idea to bring something along for the table to keep them entertained during your dining experience. They won’t be able to walk around much.
