The Boer & Butcher in Kuils River is a relaxed family-friendly restaurant serving hearty meals in a welcoming setting. A great spot for families looking for good food and a laid-back atmosphere.
Our Take
Right at the entrance of the restaurant you’ll find the impressive butcher shop where you can get healthy and natural meat at the best possible price. The family-run business predominantly chooses livestock that is marketed directly from the grazing fields. They aim to stay clear of animals that fed on any feed form that contained growth stimulants. Hence, you also support local farmers by getting your meat from the butchery and can enjoy organic products at its best. Their range includes anything from pork, beef, sheep, poultry and game.
They also run a little shop right next to the butcher display with additional yummy treats and goodies.
At the restaurant, you will be served this kind of fresh meat as well and you have a large variety of different dishes on the menu. They do provide a kiddies menu as well which also serves as a little extra activity at the table. The younger kids can color in the pictures on the menu with some wax crayons.
The outside area features a huge jungle gym with everything the little ones are hoping for: a slide, climbing wall and spots to explore.

We visited the place in August and the inside seating area was already fully booked. so we had to sit outside under the covered area next to the playground. It was a bit chilly in the evening and they don’t have any heaters next to the tables. So we were desperately looking forward to our hot meals. The kids were allowed to color in the kiddies menu and food arrived relatively quickly. At a later point, we were also offered an inside table when one became available. That was super nice and the friendly staff does try to accommodate you as good as possible.
