This beautiful vineyard is nestled in the so-called “Golden Triangle” of wine growing and is home to a lovely restaurant and wine tasting cellar.

The outside seating area of the restaurant (Giovanni’s at Eikendal) is overlooking the mountains, there is a little pond with a water fountain to its left and lots of green grassy areas to relax and unwind.

The restaurant also features a playground right next to the shaded outside seating and you can conveniently watch the children play while you can fully enjoy your meal. There are swings, a slide, monkey bars and a sand pit for the kids’ entertainment.

As the name suggests, Giovanni’s serves Italian inspired food ranging from Antipasti, soups, pizza bread, salads, pizza, pasta, risotto and carne. They also serve burgers, fish and chicken as well as a kiddies menu. So it’s basically impossible to not find anything to your taste. The portions are very generous, too! And it was almost difficult to finish our plates!

The restaurant is closed on a Monday, but open from Tue – Sat from 12:00 – 22:00 and on Sunday from 12:00 – 16:00.

Besides the fantastic dining option, the vineyard offers a couple of other activities, too.

Wine Tasting

Eikendal Vineyards offers a sweet range of wine tasting options. They have a Classic Wine Tasting (R70), an Express Tasting (R50), Cheesecake and Wine Pairing (R170) and a Kiddies Tasting (R70).

The tasting room is closed on Mondays, but otherwise open throughout the rest of the week from 11:00 – 19:00.

For the very interested guests, they also run Cellar Tours between Tuesday and Friday and by appointment only. The Cellar Tour is available at R20 per person.

Tractor Rides

The tractor rides are fun for the entire family. Between September and April you can get a unique tour around the vineyard for R20 per person! The tractor rides are available on weekends only between 13:00 – 17:00.

Vineyard Walks

Take an amble through the manicured vineyards from Monday to Sunday for R20 per person. Enjoy the scenic views and bird life – there are two, clearly marked routes that you can follow, for your enjoyment. The Vineyard Walks take place between September and May from Tuesday to Sunday (09:00 – 17:00).
