Foresters Arms is one of our favourite restaurants in the suburbs as you don’t have to drive far to reach one of the most kid friendly places in town. The restaurant and pub is huge with lots of inside and outside space. But when you arrive with kids, you definitely want to be seated in the outside area next to the playground.

The locals call it “Forries” and it is one of the oldest pubs in South Africa (Est. 1852). So definitely worth a visit. And here’s another fun fact: Forries has been listed in the Guinness Book of Records for the most beer sold in the Southern Hemisphere. Cheers to that!

They usually run specials every day which you can find on their black boards or you enjoy any other delicious dish ranging from burgers, fish, wood fired pizza, steaks, salads, desert… And of course, they do have a kiddies menu, too.

Since the beer garden is covered by trees, it’s very enjoyable in summer as you can cool down and the kids can play on a shaded playground. The play area features swings, a large sandpit, a slide, monkey bars and jungle gym.

Fun Fact: If your phone runs out of battery or is already dead, you can charge it during your stay at Forries at the designated “Cell Phone Charging Station”. Your phone will be safely locked away by your waiter during it charges and you can leave the place with a fully functional mobile device.
