Ons Huisie in Bloubergstrand is a charming family-friendly restaurant offering traditional South African food in a relaxed coastal setting. With beautiful views and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s a lovely spot for a family meal by the sea.
Our Take
Ons Huisie (which translates into “Our Small Home”) is a vibrant beach restaurant with amazing ocean views in the heart of Bloubergstrand. It features a large (and fenced) outside seating area as well as an inside area for those cooler days.
They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a kiddies menu for the little ones. It’s also a dog friendly place and your furry friends are more than welcome to join you and help themselves at the Doggie Bar.
The dishes you’ll find there are mostly traditional West Coast Cuisine with fish and chips, calamari and mussel pots as their signature dishes.
The kids will love the outside entertainment area with a jungle gym, small racing track to bring along those scooters and cute little play houses for the toddlers. Most of the time, there are also child minders available who are watching over the kids and make sure they are all safe and sound while you can enjoy your meals and the fabulous views.
The playground is not shaded like the rest of the outside deck. So make sure to bring along hats and sunscreen for the kids if you visit the restaurant in summer.

We often go there for dinner and a sundowner drink during summer. The kids can play safely right next to the seating area and we always enjoy a good and decent sized meal there.
Just mind the seagulls. They are sneaky and quite adventurous when it comes down to stealing some of your food from the table or even your plate. The kids love it, but as a grown up it can be sometimes annoying to fight the birds off all the time.
