Our Take
A fun new activity on the water has arrived at the famous V&A Waterfront. At the trendy Battery Skater and Bike Park you just have to follow the stairs to the canal where you can already spot the colourful pedal boats. It’s a fun activity for the entire family or a group of friends and you can explore some hidden corners along the canal in your own pace.
There are 3x small pedal boats that seat 2 adults and 2 children. For bigger groups, there are 9x large pedal boats that seat up to 6 adults.
You can explore either side of the canal (or both) and a trip to one side and back to the pedal station will take approximately 30 minutes. Along the way, you can probably spot some seabirds, ducks, other pedal boats as well as the City Sightseeing Boat that also cruises along the canal.
Make sure to wear comfortable clothes, bring some drinks, sunscreen and a hat as the sun is full on during a hot sunny day. You don’t have to be particularly fit to pedal the boat and you can always take breaks whenever you need them. Even if you cannot swim, you can still hop onto a pedal boat as life vests will be provided and must be worn at all times during your time on the boat as a precaution.
The tour takes approximately 30 minutes.

We did a full tour around the canal and pedalled for about an hour. The kids had a lot of fun and kept switching between steering the boat, pedalling or just relaxing at the front to soak in the views. We chose a warm and sunny day, but it wasn’t too hot. So the perfec weather for that activity as it might become a bit exhausting on a super hot day. There is little shade along the way and if the wind is blowing strongly, the pedalling is slightly more demanding. But it was a great activity for the entire family and we can certainly recommend it as a fun thing to do at the Waterfront.
