If you’ve never been to the Montebello Design Center in Newlands, it’s definitely worth a visit. The little art studios are set in a beautiful and unique space in the heart of Newlands Forest. It’s like entering a different world with lots of handmade goods, artisanal food, wooden structures, old trees and most amazing art.

In the middle of all this beauty, you’ll find a very child- and family-friendly place where you can sit down, relax, play games and grab some delicious and healthy food. The Picnic Cafe and Deli is a self-service place that caters for all kinds of tastes and preferences. The menu offers anything from breakfast options, lunches and light meals. For the kiddies, there is also a kids menu and plenty of hot and cold drinks choices.

Once you’ve decided on your favourite dish, you will have to go inside the little Deli to place your order. You’ll grab a dedicated table number and everything will be delivered to your table in the cutest little picnic baskets. The set up is rather basic and you’ll get your food in environmentally friendly take-away boxes and paper cups.

The kids will love the little play area right outside the Deli. It is filled with wooden structures, netted swings, a play kitchen and lots of climbing opportunities for the older children. Everything is perfectly shaded and hence a great place to be on a hot summer day. You and the kids will stay cool while enjoying the amenities.
