When you make your way to Saddles Steak Ranch in Stellenbosch, don’t be confused when you arrive at a closed gate. The restaurant is most likely open when you head there during the normal business hours and you just have to ring the bell for the gate to be opened. It took us a while to understand what to do, but eventually we parked right in front of the restaurant and have been pleasantly surprised.

The location right at the pond is very idyllic. Ducks run around with their little ducklings, you have a bike park next door and the most amazing play area for the children.

The huge soft jungle gym is built under a large stretch tent, so that the kids can play safely and are always covered from wind, sun and rain. You have tables right next to the playground or nicely covered in the outside seating area overlooking the pond. From there, you can still keep and eye on the little ones and watch them play.

The jungle gym is huge and there is plenty to discover. There is also a small bike track going around the construction and children can race their bikes and scooters.

Although it’s a Steak Ranch, we didn’t try their steak. Since it was a super hot day, we ordered a kiddies pizza and salads for us. The food was really delicious and they have a great choice on their menu. Salads, Burgers, Steaks, Pizza, Kiddies Menu…you name it. As dessert, the kids went for their Waffle and Ice cream clown and absolutely loved it.

So when you’re looking for a super family-friendly and relaxed restaurant, you definitely need to give this place a go!

They also have a similar concept as Spur. Whenever someone celebrates a birthday, the waiters are on duty and will sing a very happy birthday to the birthday child. Great fun for the entire restaurant and their guests on that special occasion.
