If you come across a giant Wine Bottle along the Old Paarl Road, then hit the breaks and make your way to Simonsvlei Wines. It’s a lovely family-friendly (and dog friendly) Estate with a cozy Tasting Room, a fabulous restaurant as well as a more casual Taproom & Bistro all in one place.

Most importantly for families with kids: there is an absolutely amazing playground right in front of the outside seating areas of each establishment and the children can play safely while you enjoy the hospitality of the venue.

The playground is equipped with a giant jungle gym, a slide, swings, long zip line, monkey bars… You name it. You could also bring along their bikes or rides as you will find a cute little walk way which can be used as a bike track.

Taste Great Wine at Their Tasting Room

Simonsvlei offers amazing wine pairing options – always with the families in mind. So while you go through their diverse tasting options, you can bring along the kids as well. They do offer two different kiddies tasting options so this will be great fun for the entire family.

The kids can either choose from a Frozen Delight or Sweet & Salty Tasting. The Frozen Delight pairing will be featuring refreshing grape juice, creamy ice cream, and the joy of chocolate-dipped ice cream popsicles. The second option includes grape juice, crunchy biscuits, flavourful droewors (dried sausage), and irresistible sweet treats.

Fine Dining at ONS Restaurant

ONS Restaurant is more of a fine dining experience with artful dishes, exceptional flavours and culinary delights. The restaurant is open 7 days a week and offers daily specials to its visitors. They do have a changing Specials menu on top of the regular menu and you’ll find salads, pasta, schnitzel and much more. They DO NOT have a kiddies menu, however.

Enjoy a Relaxed Time at KCB Taproom & Bistro

For a more casual dining experience, you can visit the KCB Taproom & Bistro right next to the restaurant. KCB stands for Karoo Craft Breweries. Their flagship beer is the Kudu Lager which you must definitely try along their other top-notch beer, pizzas, and smoked pork ribs.
