Stodels Café in Diep River offers a relaxed, family-friendly setting where parents can enjoy coffee and light meals while kids explore the enclosed outdoor play area. Surrounded by a lush plant nursery, it features energetic climbing structures, slides, and grassy space perfect for toddler play dates.
Our Take
You probably already know that Stodels is a master in setting up fabulous restaurants and cafes at their premises that usually feature an amazing play area for the kids. The Stodels Cafe in Bergvliet (Diep River) is no difference to Stodels’ Good Thyme Cafe in Bellville and and the Good Thyme Cafe in Milnerton and provides a family-friendly environment and a cute playground.
The playground in Diep River has the smallest play area for the kids, but it’s still a lot of fun especially for younger children. The seating area of the Cafe is right next to the play area where you can watch the children play from a very safe distance.
They children will find a jungle gym with a slide and monkey bars, a play kitchen, a cure little play house, two tree houses, some balancing obstacles, a climbing wall and very hairy rocking horse.
The self-catering restaurant offers delicious meals ranging from sandwiches, to salads, a kiddies menu to All Day Breakfast. They also serve homemade bakery items including muffins, tarts, croissants and cake. The adults can grab some nice coffee and the kids will be happy with a yummy milkshake.
The place is also 100% wheelchair friendly and you can access all places without problems.
Dogs are allowed, too. But you need to keep them on a leash.

Although this Stodels has the smallest playground compared to the other two restaurants, our kids seemed to enjoy it the most. They were able to play basically right next to us and there were enough things to discover and explore that it didn’t get boring during our stay. We ordered milkshakes, panini, omelette and a kiddies meal which were all very good. We enjoyed sitting at the little outside seating area and catching the first few sun rays of the day. A perfect place for an All Day Breakfast while the kids have fun playing.
