Simonsig Wine Estate / Stellenbosch

Simonsig Family Vineyards is just outside Stellenbosch, about 45 minutes from Cape Town. It’s part of the famous wine region and one of the oldest family-run farms in the area. It is also the birthplace of South Africa’s very first bottle of bubbly wine made the traditional way – just like Champagne!

They were one of the first wine farms to open a tasting room to the public and helped start the famous Stellenbosch Wine Route. So, you’re not just drinking wine here—you’re sipping on South African wine history.

Wine Tastings and Platters

Whether you’re popping in for a quick tasting or planning a longer visit, here’s what you can enjoy at Simonsig:

Outdoor Seating: Sit under shady trees with a glass in hand and enjoy the peaceful views of vineyards and mountains.
Kid-Friendly Areas: The little ones will find ample space to run around the lawns and explore the estate. There is a small jungle gym at the outside area and on the inside, they can join in on the tasting fun by ordering a colourful kiddies tasting for R80 per child.

If you’re interested to learn more about the world of bubbles at Simonsig, you can book a special guided Cap Classique experience. One of their friendly hosts will take you on a journey through the rich history of Simonsig, the legacy of their wines, and the story of Kaapse Vonkel – South Africa’s very first Cap Classique.
