Toy and Miniature Museum / Stellenbosch

Discover the magic of the Toy Museum in Stellenbosch. Step into a world of wonder filled with beautifully crafted 1:12 scale miniatures, room boxes, antique dolls, dinky cars, cuddly toys, and more. There are several rooms filled with toys from previous centuries, extremely huge doll houses, the cutest miniature rooms and a huge collection of dinky cars.

One of the highlights of the museum is an incredibly detailed and lifelike miniature of South Africa’s famous Blue Train, the only one of its kind in Africa. Watch as the train travels from a miniature Stellenbosch, winding through the picturesque Cape Winelands and majestic mountains, all the way to the Karoo, where it passes through the historic town of Matjiesfontein before returning to Stellenbosch. It’s a journey that will captivate both young and old! To operate the miniature train, you’ll pop in a R5 coin and off it goes. The little ones will love it and it’s really fun to watch.

It’s a fascinating travel through a different time and brings back some childhood memories for the grown-ups.

Entry is R20 for adults and R10 for kids (Prices in 2024).

Our Experience

It’s a truly unique place and the kids loved to see all the “old” toys and dolls that people back in the days were playing with. It’s a little bit like walking around in a horror movie, only during the day. The highlight for the kids was the miniature train and the miniature rooms. It’s all very much detailed and fascinating and so worth a visit. If you love vintage toys and enjoy a little trip back in history, you will love the museum.
