Tryn Restaurant @Steenberg Farm / Tokai

Steenberg is a beautiful estate that offers a huge variety of things to do and to explore. It is a hotel, houses different restaurants, you can visit their spa, taste wines or even play a round of golf. So it’s definitely worth a visit and in this post, we will tell you more about our experience at Tryn Restaurant.

The name “Tryn” is dedicated to its 17th century founder Catherine Ras, who was called Tryn by her family and friends. Today, the restaurant kept up to the modern Capetonian standards and features beautiful views, delicious contemporary food and stylish interior design combined with a relaxed atmosphere.

Visitors can choose to be seated in a gorgeous inside area or stay outside right next to the huge green lawns that are surrounded by additional houses. Kids can roam free on the lawn and enjoy various games that are available to everyone. Whether it’s throwing sand sacks into some holes or playing a round of XXO – children will absolutely love the massive space and safe environment.

At the table, the little ones will get a couple of crayons and a colouring picture so that it doesn’t get boring while the parents enjoy the atmosphere and sip a glass of wine or two.

Our Experience

The surroundings, atmosphere and environment is absolutely amazing and enjoyable. The kids had fun playing the lawn games or exploring the different sculptures on site. There is also a little stream running along the outside seating area which adds some more fun for the little ones. The food was delicious, but here comes our word of warning: this place is quite expensive and we definitely had the most expensive salads in our lives. So if you’re not prepared to pay a fortune for your food, this place might not be for you. As much as we enjoyed it, we won’t come back for lunch. 😉
