The Vrymansfontein Estate is located in the heart of the Cape Winelands, boasting breathtaking views of rolling vineyards and the surrounding mountains. The estate is known for its tranquil and family-friendly atmosphere, making it the perfect destination for a day trip or relaxed lunch break. It now belongs to the Vondeling Wine family and you will be able to taste the full range of their delicious wines in the restaurant and tasting bar. The estate itself is a working almond farm and there are lots of things to discover!

The highlight is the brand-new play area for kids of all ages. It truly is more like an adventure playground with lots of fun features and equipment. Besides a fun jungle gym, the little ones will find trampolines, rocking horses, bouncy bubbles, swings and a water play area to cool off on those super hot days. So make sure to bring along a set of change clothes in case your kiddos love to play with water! The playground is conveniently located right next to the Tree Bar where you can always keep an eye on them.

The Vondeling Tasting Bar

Between 10:00 to 18:00, you can indulge in a wine tasting session. Vrymansfontein offers a variety of wines, from crisp whites to robust reds, ensuring there’s something for every palate. The Vondeling Tasting Bar provides a modern and innovative wine tasting opportunity. Here, guests can sample any Vondeling wine. Alongside a knowledgeable presentation of Vondeling Wines, the Tasting Bar also offers the option to buy wines by the case at special cellar door prices, perfect for savouring later at home.

Scape Restaurant & The Tree Bar

At Scape Restaurant, sharing is caring. It’s a restaurant where the art of fine dining meets the joy of communal feasting. Scape’s menu takes you on a journey through the Mediterranean, showcasing fresh seafood, delectable meats, and an array of vibrant, seasonally inspired creations. With a unique sharing-plate style, the menu features ever-changing seasonal offerings and daily specials, making it suitable for intimate gatherings with friends or larger group celebrations.

Outsie and beneath the shade of majestic oak trees, you’ll find the Tree Bar—a family-friendly alfresco oasis, ideal for gatherings and culinary delights. This delightful space serves as an extension of their restaurant, offering a menu of fresh and uncomplicated dishes in a relaxed atmosphere. Picture delectable Lebanese-style mezze, enticing finger foods, and invigorating, zest-infused salads. At the Tree Bar, you can savour the complete range of Vondeling wines, alongside deliciously crafted cocktails and locally brewed craft beers.

To ensure that you can grab a table at either establishment, it’s recommend to make a booking in advance as this place is pumping and usually fully booked!

Our Experience

We were lucky to still get a table at the Tree Bar during our visit as the place was fully booked. The lovely outside space with the beautiful views is stunning and of course the kids went off to the new playground immediately. They absolutely loved it and were busy for the entire time during our stay. We tasted some wine and beer and also grabbed some food from the bar menu. The entire location is super stylish and yet relaxed. So definitely one of our top recommendations when you happen to be in Paarl.
