Banhoek Chilli Oil Company / Stellenbosch

If you love Chilli or generally spicy food, we can highly recommend to pay the Banhoek Chilli Company a visit. They not only have a lovely restaurant and FREE chilli oil tasting on offer, but also feature an absolutely fantastic play area for the little ones. So it’s a fabulous place for the entire family and make sure to take home some of their delicious oils – either for yourself or a gift.

The highlight before you even enter the building is the large wooden chair with the best mountain and valley views. It will make a great picture and the best thing: you can turn it 360 degrees to make sure you get spectacular views from every angle.

BCO Taste Kitchen

The BCO Taste Kitchen is where all the magic happens though. You can taste the oils and grab some delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner from them. Breakfast is available from 9:00 – 11:30am. For lunch, you can grab some light meals, pasta, pizza, burgers, salads… You name it. They also offer a kiddies menu with a choice of pizza or pasta. While you enjoy a glass of wine and some delicious food, the children can entertain themselves on the amazing playground right next to the outside seating area. They offer a generous sand pit with toys, a jungle gym, slide and slack line. So it’s suitable for children of all ages who can run around and burn some energy off. There is also a little water tap which is a great tool to make some mud.

Our Experience

We had a fabulous time at their restaurant and the kids absolutely loved the playground. We joined them for breakfast, so unfortunately the lunch menu (and kiddies options) weren’t available yet. But we found something for all of us on the menu and obviously tried their free chilli oil tasting. All flavours were absolutely delicious and we took home bottle while we had the opportunity. Not all of their flavours can be purchased in stores, so even more of a reason to pay them a visit!
