Cape Point Vineyards / Noordhoek

If you love a combination of mountain views AND ocean views, then you must pay this Wine Estate in Noordhoek a visit. It’s beautifully located against the slopes of Chapman’s Peak overlooking the nearby Atlantic Ocean. It doesn’t get any better than that! And the best part: they have a fabulous playground on the green lawn and a weekday market. Every Thursday night, you can grab delicious wine, a variety of dishes from the food stalls and some arts and crafts while enjoying the sunset over Noordhoek.

Thursday Night Market

We simply love the Thursday Night market because it’s so simple. You don’t have to make choices like on a weekend – you just go there after work, enjoy a couple of drinks and good food, the kids can play on the lawn or the play area and life is good.

The playground is equipped with a jungle gym, swings and a sandpit so that younger kids can definitely stay busy for awhile.

As it’s getting a little bit chilly in the evenings on that side of the mountain, the pop-up market is closed in winter and only open from September to April. Every Thursday, the gates are open from 16:30 – 20:30 to greet locals and tourists alike to a great market experience.

Sushi & Wine Tasting

If you’re a Sushi lover, then you must definitely try their Sushi and Tasting Special on a Wednesday night from 17:00 – 19:00. They call it their “Sushi and Sauvignon Sunsets” where you get 20% off all Sushi and Sauvignon Blanc. You can take a seat at the covered veranda where you’re protected against the cooler evenings and still can enjoy the amazing views over the vineyard , picnic lawns and the Atlantic Ocean.

Restaurant & Picnics

If you prefer a unique lunch scenery, then the fantastic outdoor restaurant is ideal. It opens its door from Wednesday to Sunday 12:00 – 15:00 and again, you can soak in the sea, vineyard and mountain views while picking your favourite dish from a world class A La Carte menu.

Check out the complete menu or make a reservation: MENU

In case you like a more cozy set-up which is also suitable for kids of all ages, you can try a picnic at their inviting green picnic lawns which will be accompanied by picnic blankets and prism shaped pillows for your back support.

They can arrange for vegetarian options and kiddies options as well. You’ll just need to let them know in advance in your booking notes. If you show up with a whole bunch of people and your group exceeds 20 people, you will be served harvest style on platters and a discretionary 12.5% service fee applies.

Note: The Picnic Deli is closed during winter. However, you can still enjoy their Courtyard Menu – Including Picnic Platters – which will be served on the lawns.

Cost: R150 per adult

Wine & Climb

Every last Sunday of the month you can sign up for a very unique experience. Join in on a 4.5km hike with four wine-tasting stops along the way. The little tour starts at the restaurant at 09:30 and you will be taken through the olive grove and the vineyards. At each station, you can sample a variety of flavours, and learn about the conditions that created them, while enjoying breathtaking views all the way.

The hike is child-friendly and kids under the age of 18 can join for FREE. However, they won’t be able to join in on the tasting, of course. Just be aware that the route has a 120-metre incline, so taking along strollers for the little ones is not recommended. The tour ends around 12:00.

Our Experience

The setting of this vineyard is truly unique and you won’t be disappointed. So far, we’ve only ever been to the Thursday Night Markets as regular visitors because it’s simply stunning. You can takle a seat on the lawns and overlook an amazing scenery. We usually take our guests to this place as soon as they arrive because they will be impressed by the beauty.

The kids love to play at the playground and we can enjoy our wine and food right next to them on the lawn. It’s a very chilled atmosphere where people are laughing and having fun on a mid-week night.

You just need to bring along some warm clothes for the evening as it gets quite cold as soon as the sun is gone and you definitely want to cuddle into something that keeps you warm.
