Cape Town Science Center / Observatory

Show your school kids a whole new level of educational learning by taking them to an inspiring and inter-active learning place in Cape Town that goes beyond the normal school curriculum. The Cape Town Science Center uses effective methods to teach science, technology, mathematics and engineering through the use of interactive displays, events and activities.

The exhibits are a constant work in progress and the Science Center is aiming to add new and exciting elements all the time. So don’t go there only once, but pay them a regular visit to experience new things over and over again. But they do have some old favourites that simply never get old. You can expect a wide variety of interactive displays and exciting activities for your enjoyment. Children can build a house in the exclusive ‘kids only’ Murray & Roberts Building Site, they can challenge their mind with Puzzling Things, experience weightlessness similar to that of space travel with a spin on the Human Gyroscope, play Mindball – the game where you control the ball with your brain waves and see and hear science in the Audio Kinetic Sculpture.

It’s not only interesting for the younger guests, but the parents can also learn a few new things here and there. It’s impressive for young and old and a great way to spend quality time with your school kids and the family.

In case the kids are getting hungry from all the new things and experiences during their time at the Science Center, you can grab a bite and drinks at the iCafe. They serve hot and cold beverages as well as a range of light meals including a kiddies menu. They also offer free WIFI while you are there. You can check out the menu here: MENU

  1. Good afternoon, I hope you’re doing well. I was wondering if there any open days at the Science Center. We are a non-profit organization who works with the most vulnerable children, in the community of Beacon Valley. We don’t have any funders or supporters, everything we do is out of our own pockets. We would like to introduce Beacon Valley youngsters to the Science Center.

Looking forward for hear from you.

please note that we are not associated with the places we write about on our website. We just share our personal experience and reviews of those kid friendly places and events. We recommend to contact the venue directly to inquire about any open days at the Science Center.

Good luck and all the best!
