In 2022, Drumstruck at Silvermist won the hearts of both locals and tourists with its vibrant 5-star African drum-theatre production, accompanied by a delightful wine tasting hosted by Silvermist’s owner and winemaker, Gregory Brink Louw. Recognized as the ‘most authentic and interactive African experience in Cape Town,’ Drumstruck is all set to kick off its new season on November 10, 2023, bringing along a host of exciting new features. These include a genuine South African braai (barbecue), an African-themed coffee shop and deli, and a world-class marimba band.

Drumstruck has been entertaining audiences worldwide since its humble beginnings in Johannesburg in 2002, with successful tours in the Far East, Europe, Australia, and even a stint off-Broadway in New York. The show has even drawn celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Kevin Bacon, and Rosie O’ Donnell to its performances. Recently, Drumstruck teamed up with Dolly Parton at her Nashville theme park, earning her praise: “I’m dumbstruck over Drumstruck.” The show’s producer, Warren Lieberman, decided to bring it back to South Africa post-Covid to provide both locals and visitors access to the transformative and unifying magic of drumming, while also delving into traditional African music.

In Cape Town, Drumstruck presents a scaled-down version of its international production while maintaining the essence of storytelling, interactivity, fun, and showmanship. Visitors step into a space showcasing an extensive collection of indigenous African instruments and embark on a musical journey through the heritage of Southern Africa, from the first drum to the latest high-tech electronic instruments. Each audience member receives their own djembe drum and participates in playing and singing along with the show, becoming part of the collective celebration that embodies African music and culture.

If you’re on the lookout for family-friendly entertainment, look no further! Drumstruck at Silvermist offers a unique opportunity for the entire family, from the youngest to the oldest, to join in and have a blast together. Even the wine tasting is designed with everyone in mind – while the adults savor and learn about exclusive South African wines from the region, children (and those who prefer) can enjoy a refreshing selection of farm-brewed iced teas. There’s ample space for kids to run around and play on the beautiful lawns, and Silvermist provides a relaxed farmyard atmosphere where you might spot ducks, pigs, sheep, a donkey, rabbits, and dogs freely roaming about.

This season, the South African experience extends to include an optional braai after the show (pre-order required with ticket purchase), and guests will be entertained by a world-class marimba band as they indulge in delicious food, drinks, and breathtaking views. The Silvermist Rocketbar has been transformed into a cozy African-themed wine and coffee bar, serving deli sandwiches and snacks throughout the day.

Join them for an unforgettable family-friendly adventure at Drumstruck, where music, culture, and fun come together in the heart of Cape Town!
