If you want to train your logical mind in a fun way, then an Escape Room is a Must-Do for you! HintHunt Cape Town offers a wide range of adventures from Indoor Escape Rooms, Online Escape Games, to outdoor games and mobile experiences. We will shed a light on each individual option below. Make sure to always arrive 15 minutes prior to your escape game to get prepared and receive all instructions before the start of your mission.
In order to enter an actual Escape Room, you and your team mates will come together at the HintHunt location and start a 60 minutes adventure in a room of your choice. You will be locked away (don’t worry, there is a safety button which always allows you to leave the room instantly) in order to solve the riddle of the day. You follow clues, open boxes, discover hidden objects in secret places and simply have a great time together. In case you’re stuck at some point and simply cannot get to your next clue, a little helping hand will guide you through a microphone so that you can keep on playing and hopefully make it out before the timer ends.
All Escape Rooms are designed for 2 to 6 players. If you arrive with a bigger team, it makes sense to split up in multiple rooms to ensure that everybody gets the chance to participate.
Currently, they have a choice between 5 different Escape Rooms which also come with different difficulty levels.
- Shipwrecked with Difficulty 3/5
- The Old Hotel with Difficulty 4/5
- Escape Plan with Difficulty 4/5
- Torpedo with Difficulty 5/5
- The Cursed Treasure with Difficulty 5/5
If you have never played an escape game before and you start as a beginner, I recommend to start with an easy room. When you enjoy it, try a more difficult one next time.
Prices for the Escape Rooms are R295 per person. Kids under the age of 7 play for free in case you want to make it a family adventure. Children under the age of 13 are required to be accompanied by at least 1 adult per team.
Online Escape Games
This option allows you to experience the thrill and excitement at the comfort of your home and you can conveniently start the escape game on your laptop. Simply connect with your team mates (1-5 players) via video call and solve the mysteries online.
You will have the choice between 2 games: Detective Mysteries and Cold Case.
All online escape games cost R349 per team.
Outdoor Escape Games
The outdoor escape games combine augmented reality and GPS technology to give you an incredible outdoor experience. The outdoor games are played in a team of 2 to 5 people and cost R230 per player.
The two games “Operation Mindfall” and “Magic Portal” take about 120 minutes.
In your team, you will be exploring different locations around the V&A Waterfront. So you’re not bound to a room, but have to travel some distance to solve the riddles. Be prepared to walk between 1.5 to 2.5km during the game and dress according to the weather as the games take place in every season – even if it’s raining.
The amazing race is pretty much a fun outdoor adventure game where different teams race against each other around the V&A Waterfront to solve the mission. Whichever teams completes all tasks and challenges first, earns eternal bragging rights.
This is the perfect game for larger groups with up to 40 people or more. The more players, the cheaper its gets, too!
You will have a choice between the following 3 games:
- Street Arts: 120 minutes game time and 2.5km to travel
- Wheely, wheely good: 75 minutes game time and 1.8km to travel
- Far and Wide: 70-80 minutes game time and about 2km to travel
Prices vary depending on the size of your group starting at R200 for 2-3 players, R150 for 4-10 players, R140 for 11-20 players, R135 for 21-30 players, and R130 for 31-40 players.
Mobile Escape Games
Bring the fun of an escape game to your own preferred indoor or outdoor location. Using awesome augmented reality and GPS technology, those at your event will be fully immersed in the experience.
These experiences can be fully customised and the package price for a game between 1 to 6 hours costs R3,500.
For experienced players and riddle solvers, this will be a fun activity. If this is new land for you, it can be slightly frustrating sometimes if you cannot solve the problem at hand. You usually play in a team and some are simply quicker than others. So the time I played, I was more watching the other team mates getting onto it and solving clue after clue while I was pretty much clueless. It is still a fun experience though where you totally get to enjoy the excitement and 60 minute time pressure. This game is most suitable for adults and teenagers who can already apply some logical thinking, but you might as well take the little ones with as kids under the age of 7 play for free.
