Laborie Wine Estate / Paarl

Nestled in the picturesque town of Paarl, Laborie Wine Estate stands as a testament to the rich heritage and exceptional winemaking traditions of the Western Cape. With its stunning vineyards, historical manor house, and a commitment to producing high-quality wines, Laborie is a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts.

Laborie Wine Estate boasts a history that dates back to 1691 when it was established by Isaac Taillefert, a French Huguenot settler. The estate was named after Jean Laborie, the first winemaker on the property. The estate’s early years saw it producing wines that gained recognition far beyond the borders of South Africa, including receiving awards at international exhibitions in Paris in the 1800s.

The historic manor house, built in the Cape Dutch architectural style, stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Laborie. Today, it has been meticulously restored to its former glory and serves as a reminder of the estate’s long and storied history.

Wine Tasting Experience

If you’re visiting the beautiful Estate, you should take the time to taste some of their fantastic wines during a wine tasting experience. Restaurants & Picnics

Laborie is probably one of the Wine Estates with the most dining options in Paarl. They are home to three different restaurants and you can enjoy picnics as well.

Our Experience

We enjoyed a fabulous lunch at the Cucina Di Giovanni and absolutely loved the generous outside space, the delicious food and wine and the space for our children. They were making full use of the wide, open lawn and the playground not far from us. It was a lovely spot for us as a family and we surely come back to try out the other dining options on the Estate.
