Playalot Indoor Playpark / Kuils River

This indoor playpark is housed in the Haasendal Gables Shopping Center (Shop 33) in Kuils River and has been voted “Best Kids Party Spot in Cape Town 2021” on KFM radio! So let’s explore what this indoor park has to offer. First of all, it caters for children of all ages. It has a dedicated toddler area (which is always great for the younger siblings) and lots of play fun for the older kids, as well.

At Playalot, they came up with a world theme which means that the different play areas are “happening” around the world. The toddlers play in Europe while the kids aged 4 to 9 can explore the Africa play zone. Older kids starting at the age of 10 can play in Asia. But that’s by far not all: besides the various themed play areas, you’ll also find a 5D cinema, Skyride, Golf Simulator and much more.

Before we go into more details, let’s mention some general facts that you need to be aware of when you want to visit Playalot:

  • You don’t need to make a booking. You can just rock up there and play always starts on the hour.
  • Each player needs to have an online profile before they can start playing. So in order for you to save some time, pre-register all players online BEFORE you arrive: REGISTER PLAYER PROFILE
  • Kids are only allowed to play in the specific Playalot Safety Grip Socks (R50 per pair). No other grip socks will be allowed.
  • Keep an eye on their specials to safe some bucks if you can: SPECIALS

Europe (0-3 years)

Your little ones will be safe and sound in this protected and gated soft play area for children up until the age of 3. They can explore lots of different things and toys that will stimulate their curiosity. In the toddler area you’ll find the Red Bus, slides ending in a ball pit, balance bikes, a trampoline, educational wall activities, the learning tower of Pisa, rocking toys, cars and much more! There is so much entertainment for the toddlers, that you can keep them busy in there for the entire day!

Africa (4-9 years)

The highlight of this area is probably the inhabitants Alex and Alexa. Alex is a life-sized roaring lion while Alexa the Giraffe keeps overlooking the place. Other than that, the kids can go wild on the trampolines, foam pit, a jungle themed obstacle course, spiral slides ending in a ball pit, netted maze, the lego lounge or the Egypt Pyramid Sandpit filled with cassia seeds.

Asia (10 – 99 years)

The most challenging part of the world (at least at the Playalot world) is Asia. This is for all those sporty individuals who are looking for massive fun and challenges. They will find 9 meters high climbing walls, a Ninja obstacle course just the like ones you see on TV, a high rope course, an elastic spider-web maze, trampolines, a one-of-a-kind Sky Ride and an absolutely amazing 5D Cinema.

For those of you who haven’t experienced a movie in 5D yet, this is a Must-Do! You feel like being directly sucked up in the movie and you can expect moving chairs and spraying water! I don’t want to spoil too much, but this is great fun for young and old and a unique cinema experience for sure!

Playalot Cafe

Of course, this place won’t let you stay hungry. The Playalot Cafe offers a huge variety of families’ favourites such as burgers, pizzas and salads. They also have an impressive vegan menu and kiddies menu on the table and you can fill up those little bellies with lots of yummy treats. You’ll find an overview of all available menus here: MENUS

Our Experience

We visited the playpark on a Friday evening since they offer a half-price special during the week where you pay R60 instead of R120 per hour. We did register both our kids beforehand, so the entrance was quick and easy. We just needed to purchase the special grip socks on top.

We weren’t aware that parents are not allowed in the play areas without those special socks and the staff is quite rigorous to inform all the parents without those socks about that fact. So if you go there with younger children, make sure to buy a pair of socks for yourself, otherwise you won’t be able to supervise your child. I personally find that rule a bit ridiculous as any other pair of grip socks works just as well and it seems a bit of a money making scheme.

There are a lot of activities for older kids as they can climb, jump and discover ninja courses all over the place. The special highlight is the Sky Ride where the kids hang in some special gear and cruise along the top of the park. For toddlers it’s a bit wild and they would be limited to stay in the dedicated toddler area.

The seating area is also upstairs where you can overlook the kids playing. Again, when you go there with younger kids it’s a bit inconvenient as you cannot sit down and relax because the little ones would be all by themselves downstairs.

    • Dear Chuma,

please note that we are not associated with any of the venues on our website capetownwithkids.com

We’re only writing about family friendly places in and around Cape Town, but don’t organize bookings on our end at all.

Please contact the venue directly to make a booking.

      Best regards,
      Judith
