Ride In Coffee Shop / Stellenbosch

The Ride In Cafe is a truly hidden gem in Stellenbosch as you wouldn’t expect such a generous and fabulous play area for the kids at a coffee shop and bike rental place. The Ride In Coffee Shop is a self-service shop which offers anything from freshly made food, snacks, cool drinks and sweet treats. You can place your order inside and enjoy breakfast, burgers, salads, pizzas, toasties and a kiddies menu as well as pastries and cakes. You can check out their complete menu here: MENU

The cafe is also a great spot to sample locally brewed craft beers and boutique wine after a hard day in the saddle (or an easy day on the sidelines!).

The highlight for the kids is probably the generous play area outside. It features anything from slides, swings, a jungle gym, sandpit and a large grassy area for ball games or frisbee. The nice thing about the playground: the grown-ups can enjoy the food right next it and watch the little ones play. They also keep an entire box of children’s books and other toys inside the shop which you can take out and add some extra entertainment for them.

If your children are already comfortable on a bike, they can also have fun on their dedicated kid’s bike track which you will pass on your way to the cafe.

Your furry friends are also more than welcome as long as you bring a leash.

Cycling amenities and services include; bike workshop, bike rental, cycle guides, free shower blocks, bike wash and spare parts and free parking.

Our Experience

This is such a relaxed spot in Stellenbosch which we almost found by co-incidence. We just wanted a few refreshments on a hot day and were surprised by green, inviting lawns and a massive playground outside. The kids absolutely loved it and although it was a super hot day, we sat comfortably in the shaded areas right next to the play area where we could watch the children play.

We tried some cold beer and snacks for the kids and most certainly will return for a proper lunch one day!
