Vredenheim Animal Farm & Big Cats Park / Stellenbosch

At Vredenheim you can double spoil your kids with a great choice of animal encounters as they feature an Animal Farm and a Big Cats Park. On the Animal Farm they keep a variety of farm animals like chickens and rabbits, cows, goats, alpacas, pigs and sheep. The Big Cat Park is home to lions, leopards, tigers, and a variety of game including sables, wildebeest, zebra, springbok, fallow deer and eland.

Animal Farm

Youngsters, parents and grandparents can enter the play park to enjoy a fun-filled day with the farm animals and on the playground. The park is set up in a big circle where parents can sit back and relax in the shaded seating area while the kiddies have fun with the animals or play at the jungle gym, at the bike track or in the sand pit. The little bar inside serves drinks and a few sweet treats, but make sure to bring along cash as they don’t have any card facilities available at the animal park.

The entry fee is R30 for adults and R50 for children and R25 for pensioners, but you can stay as long as you want and no time limit is attached to your entry band.

Kiddies Birthday Parties

If you’re planning a kiddies party at the animal farm, you’ll have a choice of two outdoor kids’ party areas and one indoor party area that is available for bookings. Parties can be booked every day of the week and they have a choice of three different party options which all include a 2.5 hour venue hire and play session. The available time slots are 10:00 – 12:30 and 13:30 – 16:00.

All three party options include tables and chairs, access to the animal farm and animal feed packets. Here comes the difference: Option 1 doesn’t include a party pack (Cost = R110 per child). Option 2 includes a party bucket (Cost = R140 per child) and Option 3 includes a party box (Cost = R170 per child).

You will also have to pay an additional venue fee which is determined by the number of adults attending the party.

You can find all detailed birthday party information following this link including the booking of food platters and additional activities for the children: BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Big Cats Park

If you want to go on a little game drive not far away from Cape Town, then the Big Cats Park is a perfect place to start. It is home to some of the big cats including lions, leopards and tigers, and you’ll be able to spot some game! Birdwatchers can be lucky, too! They can keep an eye out for white pelican, hadeda, blue crane, spur-winged geese, guinea-fowl, fish eagle, jackal buzzard and yellow billed kite. You can either face the big cats face to face or book a game drive and enjoy a scenic drive around the farm. It’s your choice.

The entry fee to the Big Cats Park is R100 for adults, R65 for children under the age of 13 and R60 for pensioners. If you want to go on a game drive, it’s R300 for adults and R200 for children. Please note that this is a cash-free facility and you would need to pay by card.

Our Experience

We’ve only been to the Animal Farm so far, but this place is definitely worth a visit especially for the younger children. They can run around and watch and pet the farm animals, hop onto old tractors, play at the play area and simply enjoy themselves. You can play for as long as you want and the entry fee is really fair!
