Spice Route is surely one of the most family friendly destinations in Paarl when you’re looking for a place where you can entertain the kids for an entire day. They have so many places and activities to explore that it surely doesn’t get boring! Perdeberg Cellar
Nestled in the heart of the Cape Winelands, surrounded by majestic mountain ranges and sprawling vineyards, lies Perdeberg Cellar in Paarl. They offer amazing wine pairing options. So if you are looking for something special, you can try their Candy Floss Pairing or their Marshmallow Pairing (yes, it’s for adults). For the kids, they also have some special on the tasting menu: the little ones can enjoy a kiddies pairing where they receive three delicious cookies with a decorating kit (icing and sprinkles), paired with fruit juices. While the adults can enjoy their dishes at the restaurant, the children are entertained by a fun garden play area and on weather-permitting weekends, the addition of a jumping castle. The Vrymansfontein Estate is located in the heart of the Cape Winelands, boasting breathtaking views of rolling vineyards and the surrounding mountains. The highlight is the brand-new play area for kids of all ages. It truly is more like an adventure playground with lots of fun features and equipment. Besides a fun jungle gym, the little ones will find trampolines, rocking horses, bouncy bubbles, swings and a water play area to cool off on those super hot days. So make sure to bring along a set of change clothes in case your kiddos love to play with water! Laborie Wine Estate
Nestled in the picturesque town of Paarl, Laborie Wine Estate stands as a testament to the rich heritage and exceptional winemaking traditions of the Western Cape. Laborie is probably one of the Wine Estates with the most dining options in Paarl. They are home to three different restaurants and you can enjoy picnics as well. Cucina di Giovanni at Laborie is renowned for its great ambience and quality Mediterranean inspired cuisine. It is perfect for families eating out with kids as you have a full view of the attached playground and a wonderful lawn right in front the outside seating area. Under Oaks Wine Estate
At this venue, you literally eat your meal under big, green oak trees that spend much needed shade in summer and give the place an oddly European touch that is really enjoyable. The pizzeria is absolutely fabulous and you can enjoy exquisite wood-fired pizza, pasta, salads or pita. As I said, it’s like little Italy in the heart of Paarl and surely a place you will remember. Kids are more than welcome, too! They can either play at the green lawn right in front of the pizzeria or go wild on the jungle gym a bit further away. If you love Gin and great food, then the Pappa Grappa Restaurant and Wilderer Distillery is a fantastic place to spend some time with the family. They have a lovely outside seating area with big trees that offer shade in summer and a huge play area for the kids right next to it. Toeka Domaine Brahms
This fascinating place is full of vintage items and has something new to explore in every corner. The playground is a secure fenced area where the little ones can explore miniature houses, swings, slides, jungle gyms and much more. The eye catcher is the brand new jumping pillow! It guarantees major fun and is the only jumping pillow in the Boland. To use it, they charge a small cover cost of R25 per person, but it’s definitely worth it.
